Terms of Service
Last updated: 26 May 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CitiTasker platform. By creating an account, posting a task, submitting a bid, or otherwise using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
If you do not agree, please do not use the platform.
1. Definitions
- Platform — the CitiTasker website, mobile app, and APIs.
- Poster — a user who creates and pays for tasks.
- Tasker — an individual service provider who bids on or accepts tasks.
- Agency — a registered business that bids on or accepts tasks via its team.
- Ambassador / Referrer — a user whose role is to refer Posters and Taskers in exchange for commission.
- Task — a job posted on the platform, either BIDDING (open for bids) or INSTANT_HIRE / Direct Booking (private offer to a specific Tasker).
- Recurring Booking — a repeating schedule between a Poster and a Tasker for ongoing services.
2. Eligibility
To use CitiTasker you must be:
- At least 18 years old
- Legally able to enter binding contracts under Nigerian law
- Not prohibited from using the platform under our previous enforcement actions
- A holder of a valid Nigerian identity document (NIN or BVN) if registering as a Tasker, Agency, or Ambassador
3. Account
You're responsible for the accuracy of information you provide and for all activity on your account. Keep your password confidential and notify us immediately at security@cititasker.com if you suspect unauthorised access. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, fail KYC, or pose fraud or AML risk.
You may hold one of the following primary roles at a time: Poster, Tasker, Agency Admin, or Ambassador (REFERRER). Posters may switch to the Tasker role through Settings. The Ambassador (REFERRER) role is exclusive and cannot be combined with a Poster or Tasker role on the same account.
4. Identity verification (KYC)
Taskers must complete the verification checklist before submitting bids:
- Phone number confirmed via OTP
- Profile complete (name, photo, location, skills)
- Identity verified via NIN or BVN (cross-checked against your declared full name and date of birth)
- Optional but recommended: face match and address verification
Agencies must complete tier-specific verification (CAC registration check for BUSINESS tier; admin NIN/BVN for COLLECTIVE tier) plus address verification.
We use Dojah as our verification provider. By undergoing KYC you authorise us and Dojah to retrieve and validate your records.
Once your identity is verified, your legal name and date of birth become immutable on the platform. To correct a verified identity, contact support with documentary evidence.
5. Posting and accepting tasks
5.1 Task types
- BIDDING — Poster sets a budget; multiple Taskers submit price bids; Poster accepts one.
- Direct Booking (INSTANT_HIRE) — Poster sends a private fixed-price offer to a specific Tasker who can accept, decline, or counter-offer once.
- Recurring Booking — repeating schedule auto-charged via saved card. The Poster can pause, skip, or cancel; the Tasker can decline pending offers or cancel an active series.
5.2 Contractual relationship
When a bid is accepted or a direct booking is finalised and payment held in escrow, a binding service agreement forms between the Poster and the Tasker (or Agency). CitiTasker is the platform that facilitates this agreement; we are not a party to the underlying service contract.
5.3 Pricing
The price agreed at acceptance is the contract price. Additional work or scope changes must go through the platform's top-up request flow so the Tasker can request payment for the extra work and the Poster can approve it before the work proceeds.
6. Payments and escrow
6.1 Escrow
When a Poster accepts a bid or finalises a direct booking, the agreed price is charged via Paystack and held in escrow. Funds are not released to the Tasker until the Poster confirms the work is complete, or until the resolution of any dispute.
6.2 Platform fee
A platform fee is deducted from the Tasker's payout, not added to the Poster's charge. The current fee percentage is shown to Taskers before they bid and to Posters in their receipts. The fee may be reduced through referral welcome-bonus mechanics, as set out in our referral programme rules.
6.3 Auto-charge for recurring bookings
For recurring bookings, the Poster authorises CitiTasker (via Paystack) to charge their saved card automatically before each scheduled booking. The card is charged at T-24 hours by default, with retry attempts at T-12 and T-6 if the initial charge fails. After repeated failures, the series auto-pauses and the Poster is notified to update their card.
6.4 Withdrawals
Taskers and Agencies can withdraw available wallet funds to a verified Nigerian bank account. Withdrawals require OTP verification, are subject to a minimum withdrawal amount, and are processed via Paystack Transfers. We may delay or block withdrawals where AML, fraud, or compliance review requires it.
6.5 Wallet bonus balance
Promotional credits (welcome bonuses, ambassador commissions, referral rewards) are held in a separate "bonus" balance. Bonus balance is not withdrawable to a bank account — it can only be used on the platform to pay for tasks, and may have an expiry date. The remaining balance and expiry date are visible in your wallet.
7. Disputes
If a Poster and Tasker cannot resolve a problem with a task themselves, either party may raise a dispute through the platform. Disputes are reviewed by CitiTasker staff and resolved with one of the following outcomes:
- Full refund — funds returned to the Poster's wallet or original payment method.
- Partial refund — a portion returned; the Poster then has 7 days to either close the task or repost it.
- Released to provider — funds released to the Tasker as if the task had completed normally.
Refund destinations:
- Full refunds may go to the original Paystack card (settling in 7–14 days) or to the Poster's wallet (instant), at the Poster's choice.
- Partial refunds and bonus-balance components always return to the wallet.
Both parties must cooperate with our dispute process and provide truthful evidence. False evidence is grounds for account suspension.
8. Cancellations
- Bidding tasks — Posters can cancel before accepting a bid. After acceptance and payment, cancellation requires Tasker agreement or moves into the dispute process.
- Direct bookings — Either party may cancel before work has started. Cancellation after work has begun follows the dispute process.
- Recurring bookings — Either party can cancel a series; the Poster can also skip or pause individual bookings under the platform's controls.
After a Tasker declines a recurring booking, the same Poster cannot re-send a recurring offer to that Tasker within 24 hours.
9. AML and compliance reviews
For transactions above certain thresholds, or where unusual patterns are detected, we may pause payment release or withdrawal pending an Anti-Money-Laundering review. We will notify the affected party promptly and aim to resolve such reviews within 5 business days. Where a review concludes the transaction was illegitimate, the cash portion is refunded to the original payment method and the bonus portion (if any) remains in the wallet.
10. Prohibited conduct
You must not:
- Provide false identity information or impersonate another person
- Use the platform for any illegal purpose, including money laundering, terrorism financing, or fraud
- Solicit or share off-platform contact details (phone, email, addresses, social handles) before a booking has been confirmed and paid
- Post tasks involving illegal activities, weapons, drugs, sexual services, or content prohibited by Nigerian law
- Use abusive, threatening, harassing, discriminatory, or hateful language toward other users or our staff
- Circumvent fees by transacting off-platform with users you met through CitiTasker
- Create multiple accounts to manipulate ratings, referrals, or evade restrictions
- Submit fake reviews or pay for reviews
- Use automated systems, scrapers, or bots without our written consent
- Upload viruses, malware, or content that infringes others' intellectual property
For full conduct expectations, see our Community Guidelines.
11. Referrals and rewards
CitiTasker operates a referral programme that pays rewards when a referred user completes their first qualifying task. Detailed rules — including reward amounts, qualifying thresholds, and fraud protections — are described in the in-product referral terms and are subject to change. We reserve the right to reverse credited rewards where we detect fraud, abuse, or violations of these Terms.
12. User-generated content
You retain ownership of content you post (task descriptions, photos, messages, reviews). By posting, you grant CitiTasker a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, display, and reproduce that content for the purpose of operating the platform.
We may remove or moderate content that violates these Terms, our Community Guidelines, or applicable law, with or without notice.
13. Account suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account for:
- Material breach of these Terms or our Community Guidelines
- Failure to complete required verification within a reasonable time
- Repeated user complaints, low ratings, or high dispute rates
- Suspected fraud, money laundering, or other criminal conduct
- Court order or regulatory directive
You may close your account at any time via Settings. Wallet balances are paid out subject to passing KYC and AML checks. Bonus balance is forfeited on account closure.
14. Liability
CitiTasker is a marketplace facilitator. We do not employ Taskers, do not guarantee the quality of services, and do not directly perform the work agreed between Posters and Taskers. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of the platform is limited to the total platform fees you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by Nigerian law, including for fraud or wilful misconduct.
15. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless CitiTasker, its officers, employees, and affiliates from any claims, losses, or liabilities arising out of your use of the platform, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.
16. Governing law and disputes with CitiTasker
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes between you and CitiTasker that cannot be resolved through good-faith negotiation will be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Lagos State.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may amend these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you in-app and by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the platform after that date constitutes acceptance.
